Opening Statement

The Opening Statement Competition is an intra-school competition exclusively for second-year students.  It is designed as an introduction to trial advocacy skills for second-year students interested in participating in LSU’s Flory Trial Competitions and various interschool competition teams.

The Opening Statement Competition is based on the Fall 2013 Flory Trial Problem, which is available under the Flory tab of this website.

The scoresheet utilized by judges in the Opening Statement Competition is available HERE.

Participants in the Opening Statement Competition are highly encouraged to utilize the many trial advocacy resources posted on our website in the Resources section, and should plan to attend the Trial Advocacy Board Workshop on Sunday, August 25 at 1:00 pm in the Robinson Courtroom.

Questions about the Opening Statement Competition should be directed to the Trial Advocacy Board at trialadvocacy@law.lsu.edu.
